Have you ever wondered how your personal barber’s skills would stack up against one of your friend’s stylist’s skills?
Well, earlier this summer something like that happened in Northern Cali at the Catch a Fade Barber Battle out in the Bay.
The San Francisco Bay Area’s best barbers came out to the Catch a Fade Barber Battle to support the first 1 on 1 Barber Battle. More than 200 spectators were on hand to watch the battle hosted by Western Barber Conference’s J Razor the Barber and Boo Billions. The competition featured seven undercard bouts and two headlining bouts.
Say what? Were they cutting hair or boxing?
Floyd Mayweather just read this—he’s on line two trying to figure this thing out!
Each bout’s category was determined by a spinning wheel that featured popular cuts like a taper, fade, Mohawk, comb over and throwback cuts from the 70s, 80s and 90s.
Style categories changed depending on the trending style. The participants had 35 minutes to construct the dopest cut for the one on one battles.
The competition also featured one of the most anticipated bouts of the night between YouTube and Instagram favorites Dave Diggs and Vick the Barber.

The event had a myriad of sponsors such as Clip-Aid, Barber-Preneur and The Source Magazine. Catch a Fade Barber Battles were inspired and designed to set a standard by setting itself apart from other competitions. Furthermore, the Western Barber Conference prides itself on holding a standard of doing its part to epitomize what counts as real barbering. “The Bay Area heavy hitters were here,” the venue’s host J Razor The Barber told The Source.
“There were a lot of up and comers that found their niche via social media. It was great to see.”
