The New England Patriots and Houston Texans completed a trade this afternoon that sends Patriots second string quarterback Ryan Mallet to the Houston Texans. In return, according to both NFL.com and Houston Chronicle, the Texans gave up a conditional sixth-round draft pick.
In his fourth year in the NFL, Mallett was a third-round pick by the Patriots out of Arkansas in 2011—his last three seasons were spent as Tom Brady’s backup.
