The Source caught up with Harlem’s own Smoke DZA, fresh off of Rap Fest, to talk his latest projects.

For those who aren’t familiar, what’s the meaning behind your name?
Dream. Zone. Achieve

What drives your creative process?
Living life.  Once you live life (traveling, spending time with family, and experiencing different things) you’re always inspired to write.  Well, at least for me.  Not to mention smoking good bud, hahaha!

Who are your favorite emcees in the game?
Outside of my RFC crew Al-Doe & Nym Lo, I fuck wit Ab-Soul, I think he’s a gem, Joey Badass as well, and Big KRIT always inspires me.  That’s my nigga, he always got me ready to do some next shit.  (Laughs)

Tell is about your latest studio album, “Dream Zone Achieve”.
DZA is my latest masterpiece.  It’s a must have for Smoke DZA fans and a great introduction to those that don’t know who Smoke DZA is.  Definitely get on iTunes and purchase it.  It’s worth it.

What other projects have you been working on lately?
I’ve been working on an RFC album with my guys Al-doe, Nym Lo, BluntSmoker, and 183rd. Me and Harry Fraud got something coming very soon, I just worked on Rap Fest with the homies, and I got a new full length Smoke DZA project coming soon.

Be sure to watch Smoke DZA’s cipher on the first episode Rap Fest, which premiered on MTV Jams earlier today.
