Shortly after the Baltimore Ravens released Ray Rice, the National Football League suspended the Pro-Bowl runningback indefinitely.

The move comes after TMZ Sports released a video earlier today showing Rice and his then-fiancée, Janay Palmer entering an Atlantic City, NJ casino elevator. While occupying the elevator, Rice punches Palmer. Palmer lunges after Rice, and then Rice hits her again and she falls to the floor. Rice then drags his unconscious fiancée out of the elevator.

Although the incident happened months ago, the video released today by TMZ was the first time anything depicted Rice punching Palmer.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell originally issued Rice a suspension without pay and a fine for conduct detrimental to the NFL. After the video footage was released today by TMZ, however, not only has Rice been released by the Ravens, but he will not be able to sign with another team in the NFL for the immediate future.
