Stream Joell Ortiz’ House Slippers Album And Watch New Video ‘Music Saved My Life’

Joell Ortiz is set to release his first solo album, House Slippers, in three years next week. However, the Brooklyn native goes one up on y’all by making the entire album available for streaming today. After a long week of studying, quizzes, and test, struggling college hip-hop heads will definitely appreciate Ortiz’ blessing.

The 12-track project includes the Slaughterhouse family –Royce The 5’9″, Crooked I, and reality television star Joe Budden–also fellow BK MC Maino and Atlanta’s creative son, B.o.B make appearances. The Cooper Projects survivor sticks to his usual script by effortlessly delivering witty, concise and hard-hitting flows over production by Heatmakerz and Illmind-who split production duties on House Slippers. Ortiz does an superb job of keeping the ears of listeners throughout the album. The only weak spot comes with the New Edition sampled, “Candy.” But, Ortiz shines bright when he’s drops universal heartfelt stories as if he’s passing gems to a youngin’ over an intense chess game at a New York City park, which he executes perfectly on tracks like “House Slippers,” “Say Yes,” and the agony love song, “Phone.”

You can cop  Houseslippers next week (September 16) on iTunes. That same night, Ortiz’ album release party is going down at New York’s SOBs.  Until then, check out the album here. And, check out his new visual, “Music Saved My Life”, featuring B.o.B and Mally Stakz, above.
