Harlem supporting Harlem has been summer’s theme for Revolt TV. The network ran ten fundraising events at ten venues throughout the summer as part of their Hello Harlem initiative. The featured live musical performances were a fundraiser to benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Harlem in an effort to raise $50,000.
In the midst of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week and the New York Giants’ Monday Night Football game against the Detroit Lions, La Marina Restaurant was the place to be as lyricists Raheem DeVaughn, Eric Roberson and Grace Webber performed at Revolt’s Hello Harlem finale. “I’m in full of support of anybody who’s on that give back component,” Raheem DeVaughn tells The Source. “Knowing what it is to have my own foundation and how you have to put up some of your own resources—which Puff has had to do in regards to the Boys & Girls Club to try and raise money, I love that I’m part of it.”

Eric Roberson is happy he made it to the finale. Being from Rahway, New Jersey, a hop skip and jump from Manhattan, the local guy was excited to perform for a good cause. “The Boys & Girls Club is important now more than ever because you get to motivate and inspire young kids in general,” Roberson tells The Source. “So if we can do something to generate income to help an organization like that, I’m more than happy to be a part of it.”
Revolt’s slogan for their summer Hello Harlem series has been. ‘A Hero In The Community and a Change Agent That Can Make a Difference.’ From Luke James to Esnavi to Liam Bailey, The Hello Harlem Summer Series featured a musical experience for people attending. What better place to perform than in Harlem? Harlem native Teyana Taylor once said that Harlem is a stage and it’s like its own planet.
Well, Planet Harlem was rocking Monday night with folks from tons of galaxies orbiting to La Marina for a good cause, good food and music. For more info on Revolt TV’s Hello Harlem initiative and the Boys & Girls Club of Harlem visit www.helloharlem.org
