Last month, actor and comedian Robin Williams made headlines when he committed suicide in his home. According to HealthLine.com, 1 in 10 American at one point or another are affected by depression. Many believe that being financially secure or having notoriety shields successful people from depression.
New York City’s Hot 97 personality DJ Enuff dispelled that belief in a recent interview on The Focal Spot with Freddie Alcide. “Its real life stuff that people go through every day,” said DJ Enuff.
Enuff suggests that therapy is something that people shy from in dealing with their depression: “They’re like: ‘I’m not going to go pay somebody to tell me what to do or whatever’,” he said.
“And for the most part the therapist that I’m seeing isn’t telling me what to do; it’s more like it’s there just to listen. And it’s there just to kind of like be a soapbox and to have an unbiased opinion.”
