Public Pressure Runs The World

Just days after announcing that they would punish Heisman winning Quarterback Jameis Winston by sitting him for the first half of the game, Florida Statue University has announced that the suspension will in fact be for the full game.  It had previously been reported that the sophomore quarterback was suspended due to yelling obscenities (reciting a viral joke about putting “the D#*k In The P&#sy”) on the FSU campus.  Florida state early Saturday morning announced the updated full game suspension,

“Based upon the results of our continuing investigation of Tuesday’s incident involving Jameis Winston, we have decided to not play him for the entire game against Clemson on Saturday night,” interim Florida State president Garnett S. Stokes and athletic director Stan Wilcox said in a joint statement Friday night.

Interesting because one has to wonder what new information they could have found? It’s more likely, but not really provable, that this move most likely came after public pressure, with the half game suspension being deemed as not enough; especially consider what has been happening in the NFL regarding women and domestic violence.

College football is interesting in that most years one single loss can often mean being out of the running for the national championship, but with this year’s 4 team playoff system picked by a selection committee its very plausible that by winning out the rest of the season once Winston returns, they could still be in line to make a playoff, and what a story that would be for tv viewers, assuming they lose to Clemson.

We’ll keep you posted with any new details as they develop.  ESPN Gameday is in Tallahassee for the big game, thats should be interesting.
