During The Source Magazine‘s #SOURCE360 Unsigned Hype Competition, in the midst of the many unsigned artists battling for the chance to perform live at Barclays Center in the heart of Brooklyn, NY, day one’s success left twelve potential stars another opportunity to gain more exposure and experience.

The remaining emcees were: Cash Sinatra, Taylor Dunn, J Reed, Chewy Garcia, Radio Rah, Rahzel Jr., Salomon Faye, Denzil Porter, Tray Pizzy, Narubi Selah, Kris Kasanova, and EuroLeauge. Unlike Day 1 of the competition, where each artist would simply perform an original song for the stacked crowd at Roulette in Brooklyn, The Source decided to take the talent to the the park — Albee Square Plaza. What this did was allow the community to provide honest judgement and criticism to each act. With the twelve spit into two groups, all that was left to do was have the DJ, Mike Swift, spin nothing but classic instrumentals.

It was a long-fought battle, but of course there could only be one winner. His name: Denzil Porter.

As part of the concert, Porter won a spot later that night to perform on The Barclays Center stage before the Wu-Tang Clan.

Also, staying true to the spirit of Unsigned Hype, OVO Sound Producer Mike Zombie — who is also unsigned (as an artist) — hit the stage to debut a new track off of his upcoming project titled Rebel Without A Pause before performing “616.”
