Disturbing, to say the least
The Ferguson neighborhood of St. Louis, Missouri has had enough trauma, controversy and chaos to last them the next decade over the past 6 weeks, and it appears that the unsettling nature of the Mike Brown shooting aftermath won’t be over for a while. Last night, one of two Michael Brown memorials burned to the ground overnight, and while are suspecting that some of the burning candles ignited the memorial due to wind, others are calling arson, and even blaming the Ferguson PD.
Whether or not the police department had anything to do with it, the above picture, posted by @mrmilianspeaks earlier today, doesn’t help their case. While we don’t know exactly what was happening at this moment, as something–according to Mr. Milian, it was the memorial–burned on Ferguson streets, a few police officers are depicted standing in the background, clearly in no rush to alleviate the situation.
The only silver lining here is, since the initial burning, nearby residents have already rebuilt the memorial and it stands as tall in Mike Brown’s memory as it did before the tragic events of last night. According to the Ferguson PD, the initial burning of the memorial is being fully investigated.
