NBA star gives up a cool mil to education program in violence ridden Chicago

With all of the bad news coming from the world of professional sports, the NBA and the Chicago Bulls finally have some news that they can be proud of.

Chicago Bulls starter Derrick Rose donated $1 million to After School Matters, a Chicago-based, not-for-profit organization specifically aimed at after-school programs for kids.

Rose had this to say about his healthy donation through his pr rep:

“To have a strong community of people who believe in your potential can make all the difference in the world,” said Rose, a native of Englewood, who is a point guard for the Chicago Bulls. “So many people have invested in me and I want to do the same for Chicago’s teens.”

Rose, who is just returning to the court this season from a knee injury, may not be 100% when it comes to his physical capabilities, still manages to keep it 100 with his hometown.
