the American pop culture giant is taking a lot of heat for an alleged racist statement from the magazine’s Twitter account

The good thing about tweets are that if you send out the wrong thing, all you have to do is erase it, right?

Wrong.

People Magazine is still coming under fire for the tweet that came from the company’s verified account during its live-tweeting of ABC’s prime-time schedule on Thursday night. During award-winning actress Viola Davis’ performance on her newest show “How To Get Away With Murder”, someone tweeted a line from Davis’ stellar performance as the maid Aibileen Clark from The Help.

Waiting for Viola to break into, “You is kind. You is smart. You is important.” #HowToGetAwayWithMurder

The tweet has since been deleted after receiving numerous responses from fans about its offensive and racist overtone.

That wasn’t all. People also sent out another racist 140 characters as shown below:

An apology tweet was sent out, however, acording to some of their readers and followers, the damage is already done.

TheSource.com will follow up on this story as it develops.
