Crime doesn’t pay, especially when you’re committing it on TV.

Reality TV couple Joe and Teresa Giudice were sentenced to prison today, with Joe being sentenced to 3.5 years, and Teresa 15 months.  Their sentences will be staggered.

Teresa will start serving her sentence January 5th.  There’s no word yet on if Joe, who is not a U.S. citizen, will be deported following his bid.

Before the judge handed down the sentence, the reality TV starlet cried and said she was “humbled” by everything happening.  The judge admitted considering probation for a moment, but then said she felt her “gut feeling” told her Teresa Giudice “needed to be in jail.”

The Giudices, stars of Bravo’s popular TV show Real Housewives of New Jersey, were charged with several counts of loan and bankruptcy fraud last year, and pled guilty this past March.
