Duncan is the first known Ebola case known to arrive on American soil from epidemic-laden Liberia
A man that had been living with a woman who died from the deadly Ebola virus in Africa has made his way past international security points and made his way to the United States, making all Americans now vulnerable to the recent outbreak that has terrorized the African continent.
Thomas Eric Duncan, now terminally ill with the virus in Dallas, Texas, arrived in the States via Washington, D.C., where he had a three hour layover before arriving in Texas. Duncan was able to enter the country by lying to customs agents about his possible exposure to the virus. Authorities have reported that the 42 year old Liberian was on two United Airlines flights; Flight 951 from Brussels to Washington Dulles and Flight 822 from Washington Dulles to Dallas-Fort Worth, according to an anonymous spokesperson for the airline.
A federal official has confirmed today that Duncan has been in contact with ‘more that 12″ people. He went on to say “By the end of the day, we should have a pretty good idea of how many contacts there are.”
Duncan had been taking care of an Ebola-infected woman at a residence in Paynesville City, just outside of Liberia’s capital of Monrovia. The West African nation was established by the American Colonization Society in 1822.
With the international scare of such a deadly disease, will the next move of the United States be to ban those who are in the Ebola “hot zone” from coming to the U.S.?
