Hol Up Hol Up
Last night (Oct 3rd) Pittsburg’s finest – and one of current cover stars of The Source Magazine’s Power 30 issue – Wiz Khalifa hit the stage at Webster Hall to perform for a packed crowd. Before the main event, Nitty Scott warmed things up with her lyrical offerings.
Unlike your typical Wiz show, filled to the brims with TGOD diehards this show was a celebration wrapping up New York City Ad Week, so the crowd was by no means typical, consisting more of 20-30 something business types, who still came to party. Keeping that in mind, Wiz literally could not have a picked a better first song to come out to then his hit “Work Hard Play Hard”.
As things progressed Wiz’s energy became even more heightened , with ever article of clothing he removed (starting with a sweater, ending with no shirt) his level became that much more elevated. Regardless of how nonchalant of a concert goer one could be, especially in the ad week environment, getting into the vibe that Wiz brings forward was unavoidable.
It wasn’t all radio hits though ,young Khalifa dug into the stash to perform some fan favorite mixtape cuts like the recent “Incense” from May’s 28 Grams (Trap Wiz) tape. Obviously Wiz’s name has been very much in the news over the last few weeks due to his recent and sudden divorce from Amber Rose, regardless of whatever salacious details you may read, and whoever side you may be on, going through something as major as a divorce has to take a toll on a person, especially when it’ so recent . While performing tracks like “Incense” or the recent single “Promises” you could really feel the emotion, and turmoil the guy was going through.

After the concert we had the opportunity to speak to Wiz briefly, the interview for which will be available soon in this post. When asked about recent events and if he had anything he wanted to say to fans that want to support him, and if he felt he wanted to clear the air about anything, Wiz responded:
Just keep supporting the music, get tickets to as many shows as possible, check out the visuals, were doing really dope videos. All my pictures are really inspirational (laughs), check those out too. STRETCH, thats all I want to say to the kids.. Smile
Maybe not the juicy details some would hope for, but you have to admire the positive spirit. In due time maybe well learn more.
In the meantime go check out the current issue of The Source Magazine with both Wiz & Young Jeezy on the covers, and keep letting us know your thoughts via Facebook & Twitter.
