The new album from the latest Dreamville signee is here. Cozz has stepped out of internet obscurity with a few tracks to his Soundcloud name and drops off a stream of Cozz N Effect today. Since YG released My Krazy Life, Vince Staples and Cozz have stolen the limelight to represent California Hip-Hop in their own introspective ways. Cozz utilizes mostly laid back beats to share his life stories and dreams for the future. There are only a handful of features, including Bas and J. Cole. You can buy your copy on iTunes HERE and Google Play HERE.
You can also peep a short interview we did with Cozz below.
What do you hope to accomplish with this project, Cozz N Effect?
I want to change the rap game and at the same time change people’s lives. I want to give the game a new sound. I also want to gain respect as a lasting artist.
How do you see yourself fitting in with the rest of Dreamville? What do you bring to it that no one else does?
I think I fit it well. I feel like bring a new youthful energy to the table with me being the youngest in the crew. I’m a part of a whole new generation.
What was the inspiration behind the title of the project?
Cozz N Effect. I feel like everything I do should leave an impression, and we’re about to see the effect of this project.
As the money comes in and your success continues, do you see your style changing as Jay Z did from a hustler to an art aficionado? Or will you be the same, through and through?
Everything evolves. I’m sure as I grow and get older, my mindset will change.
Which record on this album means the most to you?
“Knock Tha Hustle.” “Dreams” got me noticed. That song got me signed.
