Growing up can be hard for any kid, but it’s especially hard for Alexander Cooper. Disney’s new film, ‘Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day’, follows the story of Alexander Cooper and his family (played by Steve Carell and Jennifer Garner) as his day transforms from good, to bad, to worse.

At the start of a seemingly normal day it seems that nothing can go wrong for the Cooper family. Alexander’s two successful parents are to be promoted in their careers, Anthony, his older brother, has everything he ever wanted, Emily, his sister, stars as an actress, and even his baby brother Trevor speaks his first word.  Meanwhile, Alexander is lost amongst the talents of his extraordinary family.

So it is to no surprise that Alexander feels neglected and misunderstood by his family.  On the early morning of his twelfth birthday, Alexander blows out a birthday candle and wishes that his perfect family would understand how it feels to lead a not so perfect life.  Little does Alexander know that this wish becomes more of a “curse” when it comes true.

This terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day tests the limits of each member of the Cooper family.  Each person is forced to work outside his or her comfort zones, solve problems, and expand horizons.  As a family, all of the Coopers bond to together and sacrifice their personal wants for the betterment of the entire family.  Ultimately, ‘Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day’ teaches lessons about the power of support, teamwork, and positivity.

P.S. Donald Glover aka Childish Gambino has a great cameo playing an up and coming entrepreneur and video game designer.

The film is now playing.
