Ja Rule says there’s still some unreleased tracks floating around out there
Once upon a time, Murder Inc was to consist of rappers Ja Rule, DMX and Jay Z in the form of an album. Yes, this was a real project. Unfortunately, things never quite worked out. Egos were involved, of course, as all three rappers careers were at their peaks during the 90s; they all just couldn’t seem to get in the studio together. Fortunately for Ja, he was able to take Murder Inc and make a name for his record label now just called, The Inc. In a new interview with MTV Ja dished on exactly what held the trio back and talks possible records that fans have never heard.
“We tried to deliver that album. It was a situation where egos all just played a part in its demise. We couldn’t get X and Jay in the same room, from long ago, their stories battle on the pool table, guns out [and] all of that. That carried over into our careers and we were all trying to do our thing separately and it carried over. It was hard to get all of us into a room to do what we needed to do.”
Ja expressed the regret he felt about never making the collaborative album with Jay and X but was happy the records the trio did complete will always be a part of the hip hop history.
“We did a few records together and those records will always be classics to a lot of people in the history of hip hop. I wish that album would’ve came to fruition, it would’ve been real dope…I think there might be one– one or two joints that’s still out there that ya’ll haven’t heard.”
