It’s no secret that 2014 has been a great year when it comes to collaborations. Now we’re not just talking about music, no ladies and gents; this goes farther than that Beyonce/Nicki Minaj and just recently Lil’ Wayne/Young Thug duet. You have to count fashion as well. With a successful team up of design with H&M and Isabel Marant, Versace that had shoppers sleeping over-night it was time to give even more this year.
When it comes to fashion, Sean Combs/Puff Daddy/Puffy/Puff/P. Diddy/Diddy and back to Puff Daddy has always been known to be ahead of the curve. Many may only know of him for throwing the All White parties, the classic Bad Boy Entertainment era, and now the founder of Revolt TV. But take a trip back to his intern days at Uptown Records where he turned his ear for talent to an international sound. But let’s take a step further back to when he was a stylist. Remember that Jodeci album cover, you know the one where they are wearing what looks to be matching suits, that was actually scuba gear? Yes, Diary of A Mad Band; pants low, different attire for KC, JoJo, Devante and Dalvin. Although they were in a group, each member had their own personality and style.
Now if you fast forward to October 17, 2014 and take a ride to New York City at the launch of the Alexander Wang x H&M show, you definitely see the similarities in the most discreet way. As history repeats itself, so does fashion. With the sporty looks of the new Alexander Wang x H&M collection it’s safe to say the nostalgia of the early 90s is much appreciated. We can also say as we all knew, Puffy has always been innovative. See a few of our favorite looks from Jodeci along with the new looks you can shop November 7 at H&M.
Tatiana’s on Twitter (@TatianaTot) and would have loved if Jodeci performed at the Alexander Wang x H&M Party, but Missy Elliot was great!
