Last night Kanye West sat down with Jimmy Kimmel on Jimmy Kimmel Live, shedding light on and ultimately ending their recent feud. The feud started when Jimmy Kimmel made a spoof about Kanye’s powerful interview with Zane Lowe of BBC radio.

I’m convinced. Kanye speaks the truth, but y’all don’t really hear him though. & before I tell you what I mean by that, let me just say I’m a person that appreciates and respects Kanye’s artistry, but I am not a Kanye fan. In other words, there is no bias that lives in these words:

Kanye is an acquired taste, but for anyone who is achieving to have a higher quality of life he should be a required taste. He may not express himself in what most may deem an appropriate matter, but you cannot deny that what he is saying is his genuine beliefs, and thoughts he is completely passionate about. The reason why most people don’t understand what Kanye is so profusely trying to express is partly because as he mentioned he doesn’t believe in false humility or dumbing down his genius to make people around him feel more comfortable.”For me to say I wasn’t a genius, I’d just be lying to you and myself.” Nevertheless most people don’t understand because he is perceived to have all the “luxuries” of life that anyone could ask for.  Therefore, people don’t feel he has the right to “rant” or complain. What Kanye is saying is quite the contrary. He doesn’t possess what is the greatest luxury of them all, and that is to wholeheartedly fulfill his dream. If a man of this magnitude, with all of his accolades, achievements, money, and clout still can’t reach the depths of his dreams because of serious issues like classism (which does in fact exist), what precedent and tone does that set for our society and culture? Yes Kanye is pretty much the sole artist that has “rants” pertaining to these types of issues, but maybe because your favorite rapper is still fulfilling their dreams of diamonds, mansions, and bugatti’s. I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with that, I’m just saying there really is levels to this.

Any unsigned artist, young and upcoming entrepreneur, innovative and original soul should be able to relate and respect this man’s frustration. His frustration should not only speak to the black community, but cross color lines and speak to the people who KNOW what they’re doing is something their peers, communities, cities, and even the entire world can relate to and/or benefit from. You’ve written that poem, recorded that song, came up with that invention, started that non profit, but no one will just give you a chance to make a difference. How fucking pissed are you? How many times do you have to remind yourself not to give up and forget about the naysayers?

Kanye West is not politically correct and truth be told he shouldn’t be. He is doing what so many people do, but because they cover it up with phony diplomacy, its acceptable. Is it not said that iron sharpens iron? Are we not supposed to identify with, study, and surround ourselves with the best to in turn become the best? Is it a problem that Kanye compares himself to the best? Are we not supposed to practice positive affirmation? Is it a problem that Kanye shares his with the world? Should we not speak things into existence?

To some celebrities, there is more to being a celebrity than being “an animal in a petting zoo”. They want to do more than just put on a show to appease the masses, generate income, and flex. Kanye West is willing to put his livelihood on the line to allow the dreamers, the nonconformists, the rule breakers to come in the game and ultimately fuck shit up! Genius recognizes genius, how many of y’all think Kanye look real familiar?
