Chasity Melvin always knew she’d pursue a career in professional basketball.

The 6’3 power forward broke darn near every record during her college playing career at NC State; most notably as the school’s fourth all-time leader in points with 2,042.

Drafted eleventh in the 1999 WNBA Draft by the Cleveland Rockers, Melvin played twelve seasons in the league with career averages of 9.7 PPG and 5.4 RPG.

As impressive as her playing career has been, her post playing career is just as impressive. Newly minted into NC State’s Hall of Fame class in September, Melvin hosts her own online radio show called Real Sports With Chasity Melvin and has served as a television basketball color commentator on ESPN.  ”Basketball is my passion,” Melvin told ESPNW’s Kate Fagan. “I don’t just play the game; I watch the game.”

Well, basketball is not the only avenue that Melvin is thriving in! Add life skills coach to her resume.

Applying methodologies of team work, awareness, and vision and seeing things before they happen, Melvin recently became a member of Katapult Celeb Coaches. Joining Katapult affords Melvin the opportunity to use her life experiences to mentor people that look like her, talk like her and look up to her. “I’m so ecstatic, empowered, inspired about joining the Katapult Team,” Melvin tells The Source.

“And being part of a movement that will help others live out their purpose, fulfilling their dreams.”
