Jets Football, Food and Fashion Come Together to Benefit Food Bank for New York City.

Last night at the new 4 World Trade Center the Jets held their Eleventh Annual Taste of the Jets event that benefited Food Bank for New York City. Fantastic football, food and fashion were combined for an ultimate fan experience that was fun for a great cause.

The evening was hosted by Jets center Nick Mangold and defensive lineman Muhammad Wilkerson and presented by ESPN New York 98.7, Saks Fifth Avenue and MasterCard. Guests enjoyed delicious delights sponsored by 20 local restaurants and had an opportunity to meet and greet with their favorite players. The highlight of the night was Saks Fifth Avenue fashion show featuring dapper fall looks on the runway with Mangold and his teammates including Willie Colon, Quinton Coples, Demario Davis, Eric Decker, Nick Folk, Chris Johnson, Geno Smith and Michael Vick.

“Saks Fifth Avenue and the New York Jets have a great partnership,” said Shawn Howell, Saks Fifth Avenue VP DMM Men’s Tailored Clothing & Furnishings. “It is good to come out and support the community and dress the Jets up in these great suits.  Because they are athletes we had to do made-to-measure. We had to go through everyone’s personalities and look through our fabrics and see what was best for them. It took a lot to go out and fit them a couple of times out at the practice field, but we got it down. Everything turned out excellent. It is kind of different for them to be in suits, shirts and ties in front of people rather than with shoulder pads and numbers. But, they did it.”

The handsome models for the night enjoyed meeting fans as well as celebrating their Sunday night win against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

“We’ve been able to do some good stuff,” Mangold said. “We’ve had some great plans from the coaching staff. We were really able to run the ball pretty well (this past game), which was good to see.”

All net proceeds of the evening benefit Food Bank of New York City, which has been the city’s major hunger-relief organization to end hunger throughout the five boroughs for more than 30 years.
