What do you get when two of the hottest music heavyweights come together for a collab? FIRE! That’s what. On Monday night, Chris Brown and Trey Songz ripped the stage in a live stream, hosted by Live Nation at the House of Blues in Hollywood, for a quick sneak peek of what’s expected to come from their upcoming “Between the Sheets” tour.

The long-time friends, and Virginia natives, rocked out to their remix “Tuesday” and Brown’s hit “Loyal” before announcing the 25-day trek that will kick off January 28 in their respective hometown of Virginia.

“We always had a bond regardless as friends and as brothers. We trust each other,” Brown said during an interview with Trey Songz.

It’s been nearly a decade since the duo performed together during their 2005 college tour. And now that both singers have dropped new albums this year, they’ll be bringing in the old and the new to the stage. Giving #teambreezy and #treysangels, a night to remember.

“It took a while for something like this to happen because you do grow a friendship over years and I’m excited about it, more excited about it than any other tour,” said Trey Songz.

The show was hosted by E correspondent Terrance J, and ended with a series of Q&A from fans about what to expect for the 10-year anniversary.

Q: Mega stars, Trey Songz and Chris Brown. How did that phone call go when you guys decided, listen we wanna give the people something special?

Trey: It was real easy actually. Like yea you wanna go on tour? Yea you wanna do that?  And the next thing I know we were on Instagram talking back and forth about it.  You know, getting the fans excited. And you know for me 2005 was the year that both of us came into the game, and it was very special for both of us. Cause in the beginning of our careers, we were actually on tour together, and that was my first tour. [Was that your first tour too?]  Yea we did a free college tour. And 10 years later … just feels like the right time.

Q: So you guys have known each other for quite sometime? And you’re both from VA, and the tour kicks off in VA? How does it feel to be going on tour together and repping VA?

Chris: For us, being that both of us are form Virginia and have the opportunity to do music, you know something that we continuously love. I think as far as every artist that comes from Virginia, whether it’s me, him or whatever, you know it’s very, very rare to be where we’re from and get the opportunity to do what we do. And being able to do that, it’s just kind of great to be able to go around the world and we have the same understanding cause we’re from the same area, you know being able to touch many lives from around the world, it just feels great.

Q: It looks like a lot of fun, you guys having fun?

Trey: Of course. It’s funny though cause as many appearances and impromptu shows that we’ve done over the past 1-2 months, it’s never been any rehearsals … just outside of us being in the studio and us being friends, and knowing each others energy, it’s amazing to just get on stage and perform like that and I know he knows my songs and I know his, is just dope.

Q: What’s the vibe like when you guys come in the studio? So when you come up with a song and you do the remix to “Tuesday”, how does that create a process to begin? Do you guys just throw ideas at each other and leave the rest from there?

Chris: You know when we go in the studio we sit in a booth together and we have two microphones set up and we just go back and forth, yah know. And are ideas just start coming out.

Q: And everybody knows you guys are friends in real life, how important is it to have a brother in the industry? You know someone to call when you’re going through rough times. That you can say “Listen I need someone to talk to, I’m going through this I’m going though that, how important is it to have that comraditery.

Trey: I mean Chris is my dog. Everybody knows. He’s probably one of the most heavily scrutinized artists in the industry in music. Yah know, everybody makes mistakes, and I think a lot of people saw how really loyal I was when I went to court for him, and that was nothing for me. Like that’s my dog! Outside of music, outside of celebrity life. You know cause people go through a lot of crazy things, and we’re a testament of how real that is. So you know I’m here for you regardless.

Chris: You don’t really get a chance to have friends to know what you’re going through, you know like really country sh*t. You know what I’m saying. So I think like me and him understand that the most. The city we’re from, the area we’re from, it’s just real. Like it’s no sugar coating, certain people don’t even know certain people in the industry. Like you may go to the store and they’ll be like “who the hell is you.” So you know being able to have that same comradery, and you know just being able to understand one another and just being a friend, like at the end of the day. Regardless if we’re signing or on stage or on tour, like we can still kick it. We can go play basketball, we can just go be homies. So it’s rare to find certain people. And it’s only like a handful of people I can honestly call my real friends.

Q: What songs off the new album are you looking forward to performing?

Trey: There’s so many songs…. I’m gonna’ have to say “Panty droppa.” There’s a lot of hits on both our albums. It’s just so perfect that both our albums came within a short amount of time of one another and I’m looking forward to performing a lot of songs.

Q: What do you think the most fun part will be in touring together?

Chris: When you’re on tour, it’s a couple of things that makes a tour a tour. Being on stage is one, that’s the priority right there. After parties….of course we’re going to do pranks. Yah know, we got a large amount of entourage and friends that travel with us!

Trey: I think that’s actually going to be one of the best parts of the tour. Cause you know his team gets a hold of my team, and they really are the energy behind us that keeps us going. You know there’s some days you might not want to work, and you gotta give it your all …. You know being backstage might be one of the best parts of the tour.
