After KKK’s claims that Ferguson protesters would be met with “lethal force” in the wake of the Darren Wilson Trial, Anonymous stepped in to stop them

Infamous hacking group Anonymous has seized the Ku Klux Klan’s twitter account in an apparent takeover they’ve labeled #OpKKK.

This is in response to last week, where the St. Louis chapter of the KKK distributed fliers and took to social media to spread the message that protesters in Ferguson would be met with “lethal force” if they become violent in the wake of the sentencing in the trial of Officer Darren Wilson, which has yet to be released as of Monday.

“There will be consequences for your acts of violence against the peaceful, law-abiding citizens of Missouri”, read one of the KKK papers. The local Riverfront Times also reported that one Klansman had told them 50 new members were inducted in response to the news.

At this, Anonymous stepped in Saturday and easily began performing their usual work, posting information about several St. Louis members, and claiming they had taken locally affiliated KKK websites offline.

The Klan fired back on Twitter after discovering Anonymous had taken over their pages. Flying Anonymous’ logo as their pirated profile picture, the tweet reads

Anonymous then stepped up their actions, claiming they had seized practically all Klan related online media, and allegedly is waging a phone harassment campaign against members. A video was then released by Anonymous Australia describing Operation KKK. While the video has been taken offline, the transcript reads:

“Greetings world, we are Anonymous
KKK it has came to our unfortunate attention that you have been interfering with Anonymous.
We are not attacking you because of what you believe in as we fight for freedom of speech…
We are attacking you because of what you did to our brothers and sisters at the Ferguson protest on the 12th of November.
Due to your actions we have started Operation KKK. The aim of our operation is nothing more than Cyber Warfare. Anything you upload will be taken down, anything you use to promote the KKK will be shut down.
DDos attacks have already been sent and have infiltrated your servers over the past 2 days… d0x’s have also been launched on leaders of the KKK. All information retrieved will be given to the public.
You messed with our family and now we will mess with yours…
Let the cyber war begin.
We are legion.
We do not forgive
We do not forget
Ku Klux Klan you should have expect us.

There appears to be little sympathy for the KKK as the #OpKKK hashtag gains popularity across Twitter, and the actual KKK has now been practically silenced online. Anonymous says that as of Monday, there is “more to come”, most likely in the afternoon.
