NYC Department of Health investigates death due to woman’s travel history.
According to ABC News, the remains of a woman who passed away today from an apparent heart attack will be tested for Ebola. The woman was one of 350 people being monitored for possible Ebola exposure after recently arriving from Guinea 18 days ago. Travelers from Guinea, Sierra Leone, and Liberia are regarded with special attention due to recent outbreaks of the virus. Paramedics responded to a call from a hair salon in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn around 2:30pm. The woman was declared dead at the scene. The New York City Department of Health has stated that upon previous testing the woman displayed no symptoms. Those on the list for possible Ebola exposure are monitored on a daily basis. A New York City official who spoke with ABC News today stated that the woman’s cause of death was from apparent non-Ebola related symptoms, however due to her travel history, extra precautions are being taken to further investigate the death. Test results will be confirmed later tonight or early tomorrow morning.
