Happy 18th anniversary to Fox Boogie’s first full length project!
Eighteen years ago, a girl from Brooklyn named Inga Merchand made a name for herself as she released her debut album, Ill Na Na. The album, which feature production by the Trackmasters and guest appearances by rappers Jay Z, Havoc, & Method Man, r&b group Blackstreet, and and DJ Kid Capri) on Def Jam Recordings.
Starting her career like most female rappers, a teenage Merchand took on the name Foxy Brown from the 1970 movie with the same title starring Pam Grier and made her way with a single co-starring a 27 year young Hova. The album feature the singles, “Get You Home” featuring Blackstreet (if the single, sound familiar that is because it is a cover of Eugene Wilde’s single) and “I’ll Be” featuring mentor/rapper Jay Z.
Recently, Brown performed at the Def Jam 30th Anniversary that took place at Barclay Center in her hometown this past October.
