Hip-hop pioneer MC Lyte, Carol’s Daughter founder/CEO Lisa Price, media personality Angela Yee, fitness guru Jeanette Jenkins, financial literacy expert Lynn Richardson, award-winning singer/songwriter Sevyn Streeter and filmmaker/creator Vashtie Kola were among the honorees. The honorees were presented their awards for the evening by equally distinguished ladies, including; hip-hop pioneer Cheryl “Salt” James, digital entrepreneur Karen Civil, founder of Pretty Girls Sweat Aeshia Branch, rapper/actor Lil Mama, actor Gary Dourdan, Atlantic records recording artist Justine Skye and singer/songwriter Bridget Kelly. The event was hosted by WEEN co-founder/CEO Valeisha Butterfield Jones and ARISE Entertainment 360 co-host Shannon Lanier.

Money raised will support the annual WEEN Academy, a 6-week crash course in the entertainment business for young women 18 – 22 years of age. At the end of the program, MC Lyte and Lynn Richardson presented WEEN a generous check to support future programs on behalf of the Hip Hop Sisters organization.
