“Young bloods can’t spell but they could rock you in PlayStation” ~ Mos Def. “Mathmatics.” Black On Both Sides

To celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the release of the very first Playstation, Sony has decided to treat fans to a blast from the past. The company is preparing to release another PS4, but unlike the ones in stores now, this new one will tie in to the history of the brand. The special 20th anniversary edition of the PlayStation 4 is original gray. The same color as the first PlayStation console, which was released in Japan on Dec. 3, 1994.

In addition, the original Playstation logo: a red P planted atop a tricolored S. It also includes a matching gray DualShock 4 controller, with a Home button that also contains the original logo.

Sony is releasing only 12,300 of these special-edition PlayStation 4 consoles globally, a number chosen to commemorate the Dec. 3 birthday. The consoles will cost $499 in the U.S., and will be available for pre-order on Saturday. Sony is encouraging fans to watch its keynote from the PlayStation Experience, held in Las Vegas this weekend, for more details.
