“Love & Hip Hop Atlanta” star Karlie Lewis aka Karlie Redd has quite a moment in “Top Five.” Without giving away too much, she is invited by Jazzy Dee (Cedric The Entertainer) to entertain Andre Allen (Chris Rock) when he comes to perform in Texas.
We spoke with Karlie about working on the film. Read our exclusive interview below:
How did you get involved in the movie?
I auditioned for it and I got a callback and next thing you know I was in the movie.
What was the audition process like?
It was anxious. Very anxious. But I made it.
This movie has so many stars in it, how did you feel about it? Were you intimidated, excited?
I was intimidated, excited, anxious, like I am happy that a reality star got to be in an actual movie. I’m on “Love & Hip Hop of Atlanta” and now I’m in theaters. Breaking barriers over here.
How was it like working with Chris Rock?
At first I was nervous when I first got on set. Like, ‘oh my gosh, I’m actually working with Chris,’ because he is a legend. And then it is like all these other amazing actors are in the movie. At first I was nervous and then as time went on I got more comfortable and he is a good director.
And how was it like working with Cedric?
It was amazing. Like I said, I was nervous, but everyone made me feel really comfortable.
And how was it like shooting that raunchy scene?
It was very nervous. When I first saw the movie, I was embarrassed, but the way that they made it to where it is so funny. It is SO funny to where you can’t stop laughing, so I am comfortable.
What’s next for you?
Another movie. [We Are Family]
