Marvel Comics and Netflix have kept a pretty tight lip about their four live-action superhero series for about a year, but now a few details are beginning to pour in. Deadline revealed this week that Krysten Ritter, who’s famous for her roles in Breaking Bad and Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23, will being playing the superhero-turned-detective “Jessica Jones” in the Netflix-Marvel series AKA Jessica Jones. Within this article it was also revealed that Michael Colter, who has roles in FOX‘s hit show The Following and several other television series, will likely play the titular role for the Luke Cage series.
Per Deadline:
Ritter was one of five actresses who tested for the role. I hear it came down to her and Teresa Palmer, with both doing chemistry reads with The Following‘s Mike Colter, believed to be the choice for male lead Luke Cage.
Interestingly, Luke Cage and Jessica Jones become love interests in the comics, ultimately having a child and wedding — so we may see on-air romance between Colter and Ritter at some point.
Daredevil and Iron Fist are also slated for release, with all four series culminating in a The Defenders miniseries.
