The story of how our first family met and fell in love will hit the silver screen in 2015
President Barack and First Lady Michelle Obama have always been very open about their love and affection for one another, and it is now hitting the big screen. The movie is centered on the day President Obama persuades Michelle to go on their first date, Dateline first reported.
The indie film is written and directed by Richard Tanne and executive produced by, former Warner Independent executive, Tracey Bing and indie producer from Hustle and Flow, Stephanie Allain. Michelle will be played by Tika Sumpter, as of now no actor has been selected to play The President.
Meeting at Sidley and Austin, a distinguished law firm in Chicago, Michelle worked as a lawyer at a tender 25 years old and Barack, a summer associate, was only 27. Michelle told the Washington Post in 2008 that she felt it would be “tacky” if they started to date because they were the only two African Americans at the firm.
Obama told O Magazine in a 2007 interview “I kissed her, and it tasted like chocolate.” Filming for “Southside With You” will begin filming in Chicago next July.
