The nominations for the 2015 Golden Globes are in and making her debut for a nomination is director Ava Duvernay for Best Director. She directed the upcoming powerful and inspirational film, Selma which is also nominated for Best Motion Picture-Drama.
She makes history as the first African American female director to be nominated for a Golden Globe. Here are some facts about Ms. DuVernay that you probably don’t know: she is a native of California, she directed an episode of the hit tv show Scandal, and she won her first Sundance Film Award for the independent film, Middle Of Nowhere.
