You don’t have to take a walk outside to see what’s going on in the world these days. You hardly have to tune into the news. With the world at our finger tips, via smartphones and the world wide web we can practically see what’s going on, good or bad in real time. Events such as the slaying of Eric Garner being put in a chokehold to his death was seen by millions, if not billions on video everywhere and a call to action by the masses on legal decisions as more and more of cases like these come up. We previously granted you with our own questions as far as what we need to do as humans, a community and a culture that this seems to go after time after time (What Are We Supposed To Do Because Sitting & Watching Isn’t Getting It Ferguson).

It looks as if there has been a huge wave of enlightenment as many people, African-American, Hispanic, Caucasian, Asian, old, young no matter the demographic, people are showing up in their own way. Not only does this stand against police brutality hit very close to home as an American, but protests in London, India and all over the globe are showing their support as well. So instead of the question of What are we supposed to do?”

We can make the statement, The New Age of Activism With A Sprinkle Of Enlightenment Is Here and one of the main forms is social media.

Activism: The practice of vigorous action or involvement as a means of achieving political or other goals, sometimes by demonstrations, protests, etc.

Although a lot can be said when it comes to social media. “All it is, is just a bunch of posts and a lot of preaching, says one Twitter user.” Even though there are a lot of posts we can all agree it’s left us with more information than we might have known earlier and action leading to protests all over the world;

specifically today at the Millions March New York City at Washington Square Park at 2PM. We’ll keep you updated, so make sure you follow @THESOURCE, @HERSOURCE and #BLACKLIVESMATTER.
