On November 6, 2014 many filled the NYCB Theatre at Westbury to see the legendary Mike Epps. Mike has been making people around the world laugh for over a decade. He’s starred in movies such as “Next Friday,” “Friday After Next,” “All About the Benjamins,” “The Hangover,” “The Hangover Part III,” and now he’s preparing for his upcoming lead role as Richard Pryor in the Richard Pryor biopic. As the DJ played today’s hottest R&B and Hip-Hop hits with a mixture of old school classics the crowd was amped and ready for Mike to take the stage. Henry Watts hosted the show, but also made the crowd cry from laughter. He made jokes about today’s rappers, dating a midget, and even cracked a few on the audience. The opening acts included Shawn Harvey, Jay, Smokey Suarez, and Bulldog.
Mike took the stage and was nothing short of hilarious. In classic Mike Epps fashion he made jokes about the stoner life. Before, diving into his jokes he engaged with the audience. Mike then expressed how he knew he was getting older because older women were more attracted to him while younger women were starting to call him “Uncle Mike”. He talked about the mother of his children and how the older kids are slightly less cuter than the younger ones. When he became famous and his selection of women broadened. He then discussed his beef with other entertainers such as Kevin Hart, Katt Williams, and Stevie Wonder. He says that he always minds his business, but they start with him except Stevie. He openly admitted to making a joke about Stevie. Mike kept the audience captivated and laughing all night. He then told us how he was a special education teenager this led into his joke about being intimate with a special education young lady. The closing joke was about sex and how a woman who is uninterested in the man rushes him to finish. After, all the comedians came to the stage for a roasting session, which was also hilarious. “The After Dark Tour” is truly an amazing show. It’s definitely true to its name and the grown and sexy will have a blast.
Mike will play the Oakdale Theater tonight.
