As what has become customary since Christmas 2012, the NBA and Adidas will roll out the red carpet on this season’s uniquely designed Christmas jerseys.
The NBA will debut its holiday campaign Everybody Up For The Holidays spot called “NBA Christmas #Gifts” beginning tonight on ESPN when the Golden State Warriors take on the Memphis Grizzlies. This year, the jerseys will feature the players’ first name on the back as opposed to the customary last names.
The commercial will feature the limited edition Christmas Day jerseys and intercuts with spectacular defensive plays showcasing great intensity, commitment and skill by players and teams – during a full day of competitive marquee matchups on Christmas Day.

Adidas ditched last Christmas’ sleeved jersey theme that some players stated were uncomfortable. “I thought they were stylish, but not practical,” Brooklyn Nets forward Mason Plumlee told The Source via text message after the Nets’ game against The Chicago Bulls last Christmas. “I felt like I still had my shooting shirt on when I went to check in.”
To the contrary, Los Angeles Lakers swingman Nick Young scored 20 points off the bench on 7-of-18 shooting and added two boards, one assist and four 3-pointers in 32 minutes of action against the Miami Heat last Christmas.
Perhaps the luck of Christmas will continue with the more familiar feel of the jerseys that players are accustomed to wearing along with their first names stitched to the back of their jerseys.
The NBA’s Christmas schedule includes five marquee games:
Ø 12pm ET – Wizards vs. Knicks on ESPN
Ø 2:30pm – Thunder vs. Spurs on ABC
Ø 5pm – Cavs vs. Heat on ABC
Ø 8pm – Lakers vs. Bulls on TNT
