That was quick.
News broke today that Future has officially been removed from Drake‘s ‘Would You Like A Tour?’ tour, after Future’s somewhat-negative comments about Drake’s new album Nothing Was The Same surfaced on the Twitter account of a Billboard editor. While the most prevalent news about the story appeared to be Future’s reaction the news (he’s reportedly suing for 1.5 million in lost pay), on Instagram, another story appears to be developing. Jhene Aiko posted a picture to her account on the ubiquitous photo sharing social site, depicting her at the airport, with a camouflage jacket and a luggage bag, accompanied by the caption “Would You Like A Tour? #NWTS”.
Its a move that makes sense for both parties, more importantly, it’ll work wonders for the still-fledgling career of Jhene Aiko. The Def Jam artist has been working closely with No I.D. on her debut album, souled out, and has done select quality work (i.e. J. Cole’s “Sparks Will Fly” on his Born Sinner album) and her chorus on Drake’s introspective “From Time” from his soon-to-be-platinum album Nothing Was The Same is noted as one of the LP’s many highlights by critics and fans alike. Similar to Drake’s last tour (Club Paradise), which jump-started the careers of platinum-selling artist Kendrick Lamar, and A$AP Rocky, who debuted at number 1 on the Billboard 200 in January, this current tour will probably draw similar attention to Aiko, and leading up to her Def Jam debut, it couldn’t come at a better time.
