They say the best defense is a good offense.
We’ve officially entered 2015, but Fox is setting their sights on 2016 and 2017 — and who could blame them. They ended 2014 breaking box office records, grossing an astonishing $5.5 billion globally, and have already blueprinted an extremely formidable lineup for the next few years
We’ll start with the biggest announcement, which is that Fox will release an X-Men spinoff based on the Cajun, energy manipulating badass, Gambit, starring Channing Tatum in the titular role. Which we can expect the film on Oct. 7, 2016, and it will be one of three X-Men movies due out that year, along with Deadpool and X-Men: Apocalypse which are also set to release.
That brings us to the next movie, which is a film adaptation of the popular Assassin’s Creed video game series, which will feature X-Men: Days of Future Past star, Michael Fassbender in the lead role, and will release Dec. 21, 2016.
Additional films include a sequel to this year’s Fantastic Four reboot on June 2, 2017 — a gutsy movie considering what we’ve heard about it thus far – as well as a yet-to-be-named third installment to the Planet of the Apes series on July 14, 2017 .
Other films we can expect are: the comedy Mike & Dave Need Wedding Dates (July 29, 2016), The Greatest Showman on Earth starring Hugh Jackman (Dec. 25, 2016) and The Mountain Between Us starring Sons of Anarchy star Charlie Hunnam (Feb. 10, 2017).
And now we play the waiting game…
