I wish we made announcements like this more often. Two of New York’s more talented groups are working together for an album that is set to be released on independent record label, Coalmine Records. A La $ole (Pro Era) and J57 (BBAS) have officially announced that they will be recording a currently untitled album. You can expect smooth samples mixed with New York boom bap, but with these two working together, you can bet that something innovative will come out of it as well. $ole has made guest appearances on Peep The Aprocalypse and The Shift while J57 has produced for artists like Homeboy Sandman, Skyzoo, and Rapper Big Pooh.

$ole on J57:

I first heard of J57 when Joey Bada$$ first cut that “Big Poppa $wank (Swank Rock)” record over his beat. It sent me back to when I first discovered my love for music, so I was instantly amazed by the production. Ever since then I wanted to work with him and now it’s actually mind-boggling that we are now putting together this masterpiece for everyone else to experience that same feeling I had when I first heard his work.

J57 on $ole:

I’ve been down with/working with Joey Bada$$ for a couple of years and steadily watching the Pro Era movement. They’re a breath of fresh of air in the NYC Hip-Hop scene and A La $ole was the next Pro I wanted to work with because he’s a phenomenal lyricist. The project came together organically due to our mutual respect for each other’s craft. I know A La will be the next big thing and I’m excited to be a part of it.

CEO of Coalmine Records, Matt Diamond, on the project:

I’m proud that we were able to connect A La $ole with J57. We wanted to make sure that they would each be a great fit, both musically and from a relationship standpoint, before we put pen to paper, and I’m very excited to show a new generation of Hip-Hop fans what these two talented forces can come up with.

Expect something from them by mid March.
