A man suffered from cardiac failure after three days of computer gaming
An internet café worker discovered a 32-year-old man slumped over in his chair, dead after three straight days of computer gaming. Other gamers thought he was just sleeping but it wasn’t until a worker went to check on the man and realized he wasn’t breathing. The man identified as Hsieh, was rushed to the hospital and pronounced dead on arrival. Doctors discovered that Hsieh suffered cardiac failure. According to Hunei Police Precinct Chief Weng Chun-neng, cold temperatures and over-exhaustion likely contributed to Hsieh’s death. Reports revealed that this is the second time this year a man has been found dead in an internet café in Taiwan. Last January 1st, a 38-year-old died at a Taipei café following a five-day game session. Chief Weng Chun-neng told the Taipei Times:
“We advise people to get up and move around after every two hours of computer gaming…More patrols will be conducted to remind residents about the dangers of prolonged sitting and game-playing.”
