By now, if you’ve watched the 57th Annual Grammy Awards — or at least checked your social media last night — you should be well aware of the spectacle that ensued shortly after, during a post Grammy interview with E! Network by none other than Kanye West.
Kanye West Interrupts Beck’s Grammy Acceptance Speech
Once it was announced that Beck had won ‘Best Album,’ beating Beyonce’s self-titled 2013 album, Mr West channeled his inner 2009 and playfully met Beck on stage. While nothing short of laughter and excitement occurred, during his post Grammy interview, Yeezy announced that while the act was in fun, there was a real message that just couldn’t be overlooked. ”If they want real artists to keep coming back, they need to stop playing with us,” said ‘Ye to E! News. “Flawless Beyoncé video, and Beck needs to respect artistry, and he should have given his award to Beyoncé.”
Kanye West Says Beck Should Have Given His Award To Beyonce
According to Us Weekly, who was able to catch up with Beck at the Universal Music Group afterparty, the 44-year-old singer was full of admiration for the acts he beat in the group, and wasn’t even mad at West for trying to ruin his big night.
“I was just so excited he was coming up. He deserves to be on stage as much as anybody,” Beck said when asked how he felt about West crashing the stage. “How many great records has he put out in the last five years right?”
Even though he said Beyonce should have won? “Absolutely,” replied the humble musician. “I thought she was going to win. Come on, she’s Beyonce!”
And what about his diss that Beyonce is true artistry, and you’re not? “You can’t please everybody, man,” he replied. “I still love him and think he’s genius. I aspire to do what he does.”
