Comedy Central’s popular satirical animated show “South Park” missed its first episode deadline ever in its 16-year, 240-episode run yesterday evening.

Creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker attributed the missed deadline to a power outage at South Park Studios, where Stone, Parker, and company are notorious for producing episodes of the show an unorthodox six days before they air.

Comedy Central itself issued a statement yesterday afternoon explaining the situation:

From animation to rendering to editing and sound, all of their computers were down for hours, and they were unable to finish the episode in time for air tonight.

“It sucks to miss an air date but after all these years of tempting fate by delivering the show last minute, I guess it was bound to happen,” Parker himself said in a statement.

In lieu of episode 1704 “Goth Kids 3: Dawn of the Posers,” Comedy Central aired an encore of the classic episode “Scott Tenorman Must Die” last night. “Dawn of the Posers” will air at its usual time next Wednesday at 10 p.m. EST.
