A bright college student was killed outside of ATL earlier this week trying to buy an iPhone 6 off Craigslist
Police in Cobb County, Georgia say that a Clark Atlanta University student was killed when he responded to an ad on Craigslist in reference to an iPhone 6.
Junior year chemistry student James Jones Jr., replied to an ad to purchase the phone Monday night, according to reports. The Daytona Beach, Florida native reportedly drove over 20 miles from his school’s campus to meet the phony sellers in the Atlanta suburb of Marietta. The 21 year old victim was shot and killed while sitting in his car.
Three men were taken into custody on Tuesday; Kaylnn Ruthenberg, 21, Jonathon Miles, 19 ,and Jordan Baker, 18, have all been charged with felony murder, armed robbery, and aggravated assault. All are being held in the Cobb County Detention Center without bail pending their hearings.
Jones maintained a cumulative 3.08 GPA while attending college, according to the university. A private memorial service was held today at Clark Atlanta in James’ memory.
