The amfAR New York Gala honored Harry Belafonte, Rosario Dawson and Patrick Demarchelier. The evening raised $2.25 million for AIDS Research.
Now in its 17th year, and held at Cipriani Wall Street the event kicked off Fashion Week with a black tie dinner, live auction, honoree presentations and Dame Shirley Bassey’s first-ever Fashion Week performance. Guests in attendance included Camila Alves, Hailey Baldwin, Naomi Campbell, Chelsea Clinton, Kenneth Cole, Lindsay Ellingson, Isabeli Fontana, Marcia Gay Harden, Jessica Hart, Julie Henderson, Elsa Hosk, Whoopi Goldberg, Ophelie Guillermand, Iman, Kendall Jenner, EJ Johnson, Donna Karan, Karlie Kloss, Heidi Klum, Sandra Lee, Leigh Lezark, Jay Manuel, Jeremy Piven, Zachary Quinto, Crystal Renn, Coco Rocha, Chris Rock, Michelle Rodriguez, Kelly Rutherford, Brooke Shields, Regina Spektor, Jessica Stam, Ivanka Trump & Jared Kushner, Vera Wang, Anna Wintour and more!
Chris Rock appeared moments before being called to the stage to honor his “Top Five” co-star with a cheeky standup routine that not only gave focus to the actress’ innumerable accomplishments, but also her “generous” physical attributes. Mr. Rock closed by concluding that the only reason the pair had never dated before was due to the fact that she was “too damn busy” saving the world. Following Dawson’s acceptance speech, which gave tribute to her mother on her birthday (February 11), she exited to the backstage area where she intimately caught up with Rock and Whoopi Goldberg (who presented Harry Belafonte later in the evening) for the next hour of the show. The gala was presented by Moët & Chandon.
