Sad news in the sports world today, former New York Knick great Anthony Mason has passed away early Saturday morning (February 28) at the age of 48. Mason, who had been diagnosed with congestive heart failure, was hospitalized a few weeks ago after suffering a massive heart attack. Though it was his fourth attack within recent months, his family, friends and fans were optimistic for his recovery.

Mason will be remembered as one of the grittiest players in NBA history, having been apart of one of the most feared front courts in league during the mid 1990s alongside Patrick Ewing and Charles Oakley on the New York Knicks. Though he will be remembered for his time in NY, he played 13 seasons in the NBA for 6 different teams, including the Denver Nuggets and Charlotte Hornets, where he earned his first All-Star nod.
