“His Airness” himself, gets a spot on Forbes Billionaire list

Largely considered the greatest player to ever play the game, Michael Jordan has practically been on every sought after list you could ever imagine and the NBA great makes yet another one. Announced today by Forbes, The Hall of Fame legend made Forbes Magazine’s annual billionaires list. Considered the richest North American to ever play professional sports, Michael Jordan now has a net worth of $1 billion according to Forbes.

Currently the owner of the Charlotte Hornets, his billion dollar worth comes from the royalties he receives from his Nike Air and Jordan Brand staple. Jordan receives more than $90 million a year from the apparel line which includes clothing and shoes.  Due to his share in the Charlotte Hornets increasing from 80% to 89%, Forbes say the team is worth more than $700 million.

Although Jordan made the list, he still has some ways to go before joining the NBA billionaire owners club.  Los Angeles Clipper owner Steve Ballmer tops at $21,5 billion making him the richest owner in the league.
