A lot, if not all, of us would not be where we are today if it weren’t for the education we received through high school. If you were blessed enough to have a great education, wouldn’t you want others to share in that experience? If you weren’t as fortunate, wouldn’t it be great to help future generations avoid the same institutional pitfalls? Don’t Steal Possible is a campaign organized by Families for Excellent Schools, working towards achieving these goals. They are addressing the 143,000 children who are enrolled at failing schools and have no other alternatives.

To help raise awareness and unify more supporters, Don’t Steal Possible is hosting a concert in Albany on March 4th, which will be headlined by Janelle Monae. Back in July, she was awarded the Jane Ortner Education Award by First Lady Michelle Obama for her dedication to education through the arts. The show is part of a larger rally to sway political leaders to make bureaucratic changes.

The rally will take place at the state capitol building steps (State St. and Washington Ave, Albany, NY 12224). It starts at 11:30 AM with a press conference to follow at 1:15 PM. You can watch a video below featuring Black Thought, Mike D (Beastie Boys), and others in support of this campaign.
