The 42nd Annual Student Academy Awards presentation will be held on Friday, September 18.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, the people behind the Oscars every year, have officially announced the starting of this year’s Student Academy Awards competition. Full-time undergrad and graduate students can submit their films to The Academy for potential Oscar consideration.
For the first time this year, students can enter their films online through the festival platform FilmFreeway, and the deadline by when you can do this has been moved to June 1, so there’s plenty of time to get your cinematography on. Their films will be judged in the Alternative, Animation, Narrative, Documentary and Foreign Film categories. Check out a full list of eligibility requirements here.
Student Academy Award winners go as far back as filmmakers like Pete Docter, John Lasseter, Spike Lee, Trey Parker and Robert Zemeckis. Check out the competition to join these ranks.
