A 20 year old St. Louis man is being held in connection to last week’s cop shooting in Ferguson during protests

Jeffrey Williams, a 20-year old St. Louis man, was arrested and charged with two counts of first degree assault, three counts of armed criminal activity, and one count of firing a weapon from a vehicle in connection with the shooting of two Ferguson Police officers last Wednesday following police brutality protests.

A 32-year old, seven year veteran of the force was shot in the face, while a 41-year old, 14 year Ferguson Police Department veteran was shot in the shoulder. Both officers have been treated and released.

The police also retrieved a .40 caliber pistol from Williams’ residence, where he was apprehended late Saturday night. The gun matches the shell casings that were found on the scene of the shooting.

The $10K reward may have been the incentive that led to information from the public, which led to Williams’ arrest. He is currently being held on a $300K “cash only” bond and could possibly face more charges.

Many wonder Williams’ real intent, with the Ferguson PD coming under heavy fire after the Darren Wilson verdict and the DOJ’s report documenting Ferguson PD’s pattern of racial discrimination. Was is a revenge shooting or a mere one off event under sensitive circumstances?
