“Come back like Jordan wearing the 4-5.”
Remember the joy, the unadulterated glee you felt when you found out Michael Jordan, the unequivocal of greatness in the game of basketball, announced his return to the NBA? It was 1994 and MJ was posed to make his triumphant return to the Chicago Bulls. Having had his number 23 jersey retired, raised into the rafters following his retirement following the ’92-’93 NBA season, after spending a year playing minor league baseball for the Birmingham Barons, Jordan returned donning number 45 on his jersey. Jordan wore this number for one year, ultimately losing to the Shaq and Penny’s Orlando Magic team in Eastern Conference finals, and returning to his trademark number 23 the following season.
Mitchell & Ness will commemorate the 20th anniversary of the return of “His Airness” to the National Basketball Association with the first-time release of his #45 jersey. Retailing at $300, you can grab the legendary piece memorabilia on March 19th at Mitchell & Ness’ flagship store in Philly, the NBA Store in NYC, Chicago arenas shops, the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Massachessets and of course the NBAStore.com.
