Fifteen years ago, Hugh Jackman took on what has become the biggest role of his career as “Wolverine” in 2000′s X-Men film. Seven on-screen appearances as the claw-bearing anti-hero later, Jackman is now hinting that he will be sheathing the claws following the upcoming third Wolverine solo film.
In a photo Jackman posted on Instagram earlier today he revealed that production for the upcoming sequel to 2013′s The Wolverine is underway, showing a his hands with “three” of his Wolverine claws extended. The caption reads “WOLVERINE …ONE LAST TIME. HJ”.
Last year’s X-Men: Days of Future Past film was the last time Jackman appeared as the character. The sequel, X-Men: Apocalypse, is slated for release on May 27, 2016 with franchise mainstays James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, and Jennifer Lawrence set to make their return. Newcomers to the series will include Alexandra Shipp, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, and Kodi Smit-McPhee will join the franchise veterans as younger versions of “Storm”, “Jean Grey”, “Cyclops” and “Nightcrawler” respectively. Jackman has yet to be confirmed for the film.
